To help you target customers in your area, good SEO practices can help you build brand authority and reach. Many factors can contribute to how well your website ranks on search engines, including keywords and external links. To rank your website, Ahrefs has two parameters: domain rating (DR) and URL rating (UR).
While a domain rating measures the quality and amount of backlinks that link to your website as a whole, a URL rating measures the quality and amount of backlinks that go to an individual page.
UR calculates a numerical score that ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best possible result. It takes into account internal and external links when calculating this number, but each one has a different weight.
According to Ahrefs, they use a similar variation of Google’s PageRank formula. Some factors in their calculation include:
Because of these factors, they claim that UR is a highly efficient way to determine the popularity of a single page according to links. Since it has a direct link to Google rankings, websites that have a high UR score tend to rank higher in organic search results. This can lead to a boost in ecommerce sales and greater overall visibility for your brand.
DR also uses a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the strongest possible result. It measures the link popularity of a whole website and can help users decide which external links can give them the best results. In general, sites that have a higher score are more desirable to link to compared to those that have a lower score.
High DR sites tend to also have high UR pages, but there also might be high UR pages on those with lower DR scores.
Both DR and UR scores can give you valuable insights regarding the link building process, ultimately improving SEO and ecommerce sales. If you’re having trouble deciding which websites to build backlinks to, our team at Bliss Drive can help you build strategic relationships with high-ranking sites.
